Transformation Is Beautiful: Trusting your own journey 🦋

Your transformation is personal. There is no right pace, no perfect path and no finished version of you to become.

I have written quite a lot over the last week about transformation, and I thought why not write a blog bringing it all together in one place, so that you can really think about what transformation might mean to you.

What does transformation really mean?

The word transformation can sound quite grand ( and sometimes scary!).

We often imagine it means a huge life change. A new job or relationship, perhaps moving somewhere new or starting something completely different.

But transformation doesn't always look like that… sometimes it's much quieter.

Sometimes transformation is:

✨finally saying no when you've always said yes before

✨choosing yourself without feeling guilty

✨something you once accepted doesn't actually feel right anymore!

✨questioning a belief you've carried for a long time, possibly even years

✨allowing yourself to rest (without feeling guilty!)

✨listening to your intuition – your inner knowing

✨rediscovering something that used to bring you joy

Or simply waking up one morning and realising:

✨“I'm not the same person I was a year ago.”✨

And you might not even notice the transformation while it's happening. That's one of the reasons I love the butterfly as a symbol of transformation (anybody who knows me, knows I have several butterfly tattoos, and they are very symbolic for me personally).

From caterpillar to butterfly 🦋

My Energy Whisper from last week was Butterfly Spirit – Transformation is beautiful, and honestly, it was such a beautiful card to receive after everything I've been sharing recently about energy coaching, Reiki, grounding and personal transformation.

If you think about the journey of the butterfly… The caterpillar spends its time growing and preparing. Then comes the cocoon  - a period of change that happens hidden away from the outside world. And eventually, the butterfly emerges and spreads its wings.

We don't see everything that happens inside that cocoon, we simply see the butterfly when it emerges beautiful and free.

And I think our own journeys can be a little like that.

There can be periods of our lives where we feel as though we're not getting anywhere.

✨We're questioning everything

✨We're healing

✨We're letting go

✨We're learning

✨We're becoming

And from the outside, perhaps nobody else can see what is happening - but that doesn't mean that nothing is happening.

✨Some of the biggest transformations in our lives happen beneath the surface✨

Your transformation is yours

One thing I really want to remind you of is that your transformation will not look like somebody else's.

There is no universal timeline. There is no point where you're supposed to have everything figured out and there certainly isn't a perfect version of you that you're supposed to become.

Your journey is shaped by your own experiences, your relationships, your challenges, your dreams, your beliefs and everything you've learnt along the way.

➡️Someone else's idea of success might not be what yours is

➡️Someone else's version of happiness might leave you feeling completely empty

➡️Someone else's healing journey might look completely different to yours

And guess what!?! That's okay!

✨You don't need to compare your chapter to somebody else's✨

Perhaps your transformation right now might be:

✔️learning to slow down

✔️rebuilding your confidence

✔️finding your voice

✔️allowing yourself to feel again

Perhaps it's simply learning that you don't have to keep pushing yourself to prove your worth.

Whatever it looks like, it's personal and it’s yours.

Sometimes the old version of your life no longer fits

One of the things that can happen as we grow and change is that parts of our old life begin to feel uncomfortable. You might find that relationships change, your priorities might change.

The things you once tolerated previously might no longer feel acceptable. You might start questioning expectations that you've carried with you for years.

And sometimes this can feel unsettling, we can find ourselves thinking:

➡️“Why don't I feel the same anymore?”

➡️“What's wrong with me?”

➡️“Why can't I just go back to how things were?”

But please know that nothing is wrong - perhaps it is just that you're simply changing.

The butterfly doesn't need to return to being a caterpillar because that was familiar and we don't have to keep squeezing ourselves into an old version of our lives simply because it's what we've always known.

✨It's okay to let go of the things that no longer fit the person you're becoming✨

That doesn't mean we have to throw everything away and start again. Sometimes it means making just one small change.

✨One boundary ✨One honest conversation ✨One decision ✨One moment where you choose yourself

Transformation doesn't have to be heavy

There's another part of Butterfly Spirit's message that I really love.

✨Joy✨

We can sometimes make healing and personal growth feel incredibly serious. We're constantly looking at what needs fixing, what needs releasing, what we're doing wrong and what we need to work on next.

But please know that we are here to experience life too.

✔️We're allowed to laugh

✔️We're allowed to be silly

✔️We're allowed to dance around the kitchen

✔️We're allowed to enjoy a beautiful sunset without needing to turn it into a lesson

✔️We're allowed to have fun

✔️We're allowed to notice the little things that make us smile

Joy is part of our energy too🤍

So, this week, I've been reminding myself and I'm reminding you to look for the beauty that is all around you.

Not because difficult things don't exist - we all know they do! But because they aren't the whole story…

Try looking around you and notice:

💚the changing season

💚the colours of the trees and their leaves as they begin to fall

💚the cooler air

💚the morning light

💚the sound of birds singing

💚your favourite song

💚a warm cup of tea or coffee

💚a conversation that makes you laugh

And then after you have noticed turn that attention inwards…

✨Can you see the beauty in yourself too?✨

💚A little grounding practice to come back to yourself

I'd love you to take a few minutes for this practice whenever you have some quiet time - you don't need anything special to be able to do, just yourself.

You can do it sitting outside, in your garden, on a bench, or simply somewhere comfortable at home.

1. Feel your connection to the ground

Place both feet on the floor.

If you're outside and it's comfortable to do so, take your shoes off and feel the grass or earth beneath your feet.

Notice the sensation, take a slow deep breath in through your nose and then gently breathe it out with a sigh.

2. Look around you

Without rushing, notice five things you can see.

They don't need to be beautiful or meaningful - just notice them.

Then notice four things you can hear.

Then three things you can physically feel.

Let yourself arrive fully in this present moment.

3. Place your hands gently over your heart

Take another slow, deep breath.

And ask yourself:

➡️“What does my energy need from me right now?”

You don’t need to force an answer - just listen.

4. Look back before looking forwards

Think about where you were six months ago… or even a year ago.

➡️What have you moved through?

➡️What have you learnt?

➡️What have you survived?

➡️What have you changed?

➡️How far have you actually come?✨

We can become so focused on where we're going that we forget to acknowledge the distance we've already travelled.

Take a moment to celebrate yourself because you are not where you started.

💛 Your transformation journal

If you have a journal nearby, I'd love you to spend a little time with these questions.

You don't have to answer them all. Just see which one speaks to you.

➡️Where am I in my life right now?

➡️What has changed within me over the past year?

➡️What am I proud of myself for moving through?

➡️What have I learnt about myself?

➡️What no longer feels aligned with who I am becoming?

➡️Is there a belief about myself that I'm ready to question?

➡️What brings me joy, and am I making enough space in my life for it?

➡️What do I want my next chapter to feel like?

And perhaps my favourite:

➡️If I stopped worrying about what everyone else expected of me, what would I choose for myself today?✨

I don’t want you to worry about having the perfect answer, don’t spend too long on each question and let the answers flow naturally because sometimes simply asking the question is enough to begin with.

✨Reiki, Energy coaching and your own transformation

This is also where I want to bring together some of the work I do with my clients.

Reiki doesn't transform you.

Energy coaching doesn't transform you.

You do!

These are tools and practices that can support you as you reconnect with yourself, create awareness and explore what it is you want to change.

Reiki can offer a beautiful space to slow down, relax and turn your attention inwards.

Energy coaching gives you space to explore your patterns, beliefs, emotions, boundaries and the different areas of your life that may need attention.

And then there is the most important part:

✨you✨

Your willingness to look within, to try something different, to take the next step - to choose yourself.

That's why I always say that I don't want to fix you, I want to walk beside you.

I can offer guidance, support, practices and a safe space to explore, but your healing journey belongs to you.

And perhaps this is your invitation...

As we move further into autumn, nature gives us another beautiful reminder that life has seasons.

There are times for expansion, for growth, for blooming. And there are times for slowing down, turning inward and letting go.

Perhaps you don't need to be constantly moving forwards. Perhaps this season can give you permission to pause.

💚To spend time in nature

💚To reconnect with your body

💚To pick up your crystals and sit with them

💚To journal

💚To practise Reiki or mindfulness

💚To listen

💚To dream

💚To ask yourself what you actually want

And then, when you're ready, take one small step towards it. Because you don't need to know exactly what the butterfly will look like before you enter the cocoon.

✨You simply need to trust that something within you is changing✨

And remember to enjoy the journey.

Look for the beauty around you and within you.

✨Be playful ✨Be curious✨ Give yourself permission to evolve✨

🦋 Your transformation is beautiful… And remember it is yours!

🤍 A little reminder to take with you

I don't need to become someone else. I am becoming more of myself. I trust my journey, honour my own pace and allow myself to transform with love, patience and joy.

Love & light,

Donna Marie💚✨
