3 Steps to Get Unstuck (Energetically, Emotionally & Embodied)
Healing is never a single-path journey. It isn’t just mindset work, and it isn’t just energetic work — true change happens when your body finally feels safe enough to move again. Because EVERYTHING is energy, and when that energy becomes stuck, it shows up in your mind, your emotions, your habits and even your sense of self.
Initially navigating living with a chronic condition, I didn’t realise just how much my nervous system was running on survival. On the outside I looked “strong” and “normal”, but inside my body was holding onto years of fight, flight and even fawn responses. It was trying to protect me from things that were long over. Many of us live like this without even realising — especially if the original stress began in childhood or during overwhelming periods of life.
The body remembers, even when the mind forgets.
And when the body feels unsafe, energy freezes.
Here’s the approach I now use personally and professionally to help people become unstuck, soften their nervous system and realign their energy.
1. Settle Your Nervous System (So Your Energy Can Move)
When your system is stuck in survival mode, the world feels louder, heavier and more reactive. Your energy contracts and your decisions come from fear rather than alignment. You cannot create a soul-led life from a place where your body still thinks everything is a threat.
Regulation is always the foundation.
For me, this looked like:
Reiki energy healing – helping my body release stored stress and remember safety.
Guided Meditation – small, honest pauses that returned me to my breath.
Journaling – letting thoughts move out of my head and onto paper.
Sea dipping – my instant nervous system reset, bringing me straight into the present moment.
Grounding & daily releasing rituals – something I now teach in my Reiki groups:
Grounding visualisations
Gentle shaking or movement to release tension
Touching the earth or imagining roots through your feet
Energetic clearing rituals to let go of what isn’t yours
These daily practices were vital during my chronic illness journey. They helped me shift out of fight/flight/fawn and into a grounded, regulated space where healing could genuinely begin.
2. Recode Your Energetic Identity
You can’t create a new life from an old version of yourself. If your current identity is shaped by stress, people-pleasing, exhaustion or survival, it won’t have the capacity to build something aligned.
This is where energetic identity work comes in.
Ask yourself:
What energy do I want to live from now?
How does the aligned version of me behave, speak, choose and care for ourself?
What boundaries support the person I’m becoming?
Begin modelling the energy of your future self — gently, consistently and in ways that feel true. Your energy shifts first, and your outer reality follows.
This work isn’t about pretending to be someone you’re not — it’s about remembering who you were before life reshaped you. Your energetic identity is built through small, repeatable choices that reinforce the energy you want to hold.
Here are a few ways you can begin recoding your energetic identity in daily life:
• Shift your self-talk
Speak to yourself the way the aligned version of you would. Supportive, grounded, encouraging — not harsh, rushed or dismissive.
• Choose aligned boundaries
Say no where your old self would have over-given. Say yes where your old self would have held back out of fear. Each choice reconditions your energy.
• Hold your posture, tone and presence intentionally
Your energetic identity shows up in your body. Relaxing your shoulders, slowing your breath, and speaking from a calm grounded tone signals safety and alignment to your nervous system.
• Make decisions from your future self
When choosing something — from how you spend your morning to how you respond to others — ask: “What would the aligned version of me choose here?” Then follow that guidance.
• Celebrate evidence of your new identity
Every time you act from your aligned self — even in tiny moments — notice and acknowledge it. This strengthens the energetic shift and reinforces your new identity in your nervous system.
Little by little, these energetic choices build momentum.
Your identity reshapes itself.
Your energy becomes clearer, stronger, more aligned.
And from that place, your life begins to reorganise around who you are becoming.
3. Rebuild Your Dopamine Through Effort Not Quick Fixes
Stop relying on doom scrolling, junk food or instant hits for pleasure. They keep you stuck in tiny repetitive loops rather than moving you forward.
Instead, complete small tasks, reward yourself properly and retrain your brain to thrive naturally.
A few grounding examples that genuinely help:
A walk in nature – regulates the nervous system and lifts your energy.
Nourishing food – supporting your body rather than overstimulating it.
A simple completed task – allowing your brain to register progress.
Gentle stretching or movement – reconnecting you to your body.
A short journal entry or gratitude note – shifting your energetic focus.
These are not “small things” — they are nervous-system messages that say,
I am safe. I am capable. I am moving forward.
Why This Works
These three steps work because they target the real drivers behind behaviour change and energy movement:
Your nervous system – your sense of safety
Your energetic identity – who you’re becoming
Your reward loops – what your body learns to repeat
When these align, energy moves.
When energy moves, you no longer feel stuck — you feel guided.
