Finding Balance in Nature

Lately, I’ve been spending more time walking in nature — listening to Reiki podcasts, feeling the energy of the trees, grounding myself, and being present in the moment. It’s become an important way for me to decompress. When you work closely with other people’s energy, it’s easy to forget to care for your own body and spirit.

It was raining today, and I almost talked myself out of going for my walk — but I’m so glad I didn’t. There’s something magical about being outside in all weathers: the sound of rain on the leaves, the cool freshness in the air, and that deep sense of peace that nature offers. I came home feeling so much calmer, grounded and connected.

With the autumn leaves falling, it’s like walking through a waterfall of colour — a beautiful reminder of release and renewal. The trees are shedding their leaves in preparation to flower again in spring. I often think how lucky I am to live so close to all things natural.

Of course, connecting with nature doesn’t have to mean walking miles. For some (including myself until very recently) , simply sitting in the garden, standing by an open window, or taking a few deep breaths of fresh air can bring that same sense of grounding and calm. Nature meets us where we are, in the moment — it’s the intention to connect that matters most.

It’s no wonder that practices like forest bathing are being embraced more widely. Science now supports what many of us already feel: spending time around trees and natural spaces helps to reduce stress, soothe the nervous system, and restore balance to both the body and mind.

Something I’m particularly excited about for next year is introducing Reiki in Nature sessions — gentle group experiences that combine the healing energy of Reiki with the restorative energy of the outdoors. I’m really looking forward to sharing these moments of stillness and connection with others.

Whether it’s a gentle stroll, sitting quietly beneath a tree, or simply pausing to listen to the sounds around you, nature offers a simple, free, and powerful kind of therapy.
