Understanding your Solar Plexus: confidence, self-worth and reconnecting with your inner power💛

Have you ever found yourself questioning your decisions, putting everyone else's needs before your own or wondering when you'll finally feel confident enough to take that next step? Let's explore the Solar Plexus chakra, our relationship with self-worth and how we can begin to reconnect with our inner power.

Finding your inner sunshine☀️

This week's Energy Whisper was Lion Spirit - Be generous of spirit, and it got me thinking about confidence, self-worth and the way we show up in the world. The lion is such a beautiful symbol of courage, strength and bravery, but I don't think confidence always looks like standing tall, speaking loudly or knowing exactly what you're doing. Sometimes, confidence is much quieter.

✨It's trusting yourself enough to make a decision.

✨Saying no when something doesn't feel right.

✨Allowing yourself to be seen without worrying so much about what everyone else thinks.

It's also recognising that your worth is NOT measured by how much you achieve, how many people you help or how often you put yourself last.

So many of us become accustomed to looking after everybody else, keeping things ticking along and making sure other people are happy. In truth we can become so used to giving that we actually forget to check in with ourselves.

✨Maybe it is time to bring a little sunshine back to your own world?✨

What Is the Solar Plexus chakra?

Within traditional chakra teachings, the Solar Plexus Chakra is the third of the seven main chakras in your body. It is associated with the area above the navel / below the breastbone and is often represented by the colour yellow 💛 reminding us of the warmth, brightness and energy of sunshine.

This chakra is traditionally linked with confidence, self-belief, personal power, motivation, boundaries and our own sense of identity.

You might think of it as the energy centre connected with:

✔️how you see yourself

✔️how much you trust your own decisions

✔️whether you feel able to take action in a way that feels right for you (and not everyone else)

When exploring the chakra system as an energy-healing framework, we might reflect on whether we feel balanced in these areas of our lives. This isn't a medical diagnosis or a way to determine what's causing a particular difficulty; it's simply one lens through which we can explore our experiences and relationship with ourselves.

When we start to doubt our worth

Have you ever agreed to something when every part of you wanted to say no? Or found yourself going over a conversation afterwards, wondering whether you said the right thing or worrying about what someone might think of you?

Perhaps you have ideas you'd love to pursue, but you keep putting them off because you don’t think you're quite ready. You compare yourself to others, question whether you're good enough or wait for somebody else to tell you that you're doing the right thing.

These experiences can have many different causes, and we won't all recognise ourselves in the same way. But they can be useful invitations to pause and explore what's happening beneath the surface.

Sometimes, we may have have learnt to put other people's opinions above our own. We may be afraid of getting things wrong. For many of us we may have spent years trying to be the reliable one, the strong one or the person who is always there and never lets anyone down.

Over time, it can become difficult to distinguish between what we genuinely want and what we've become so accustomed to doing for everyone else.

This is why I believe awareness is such an important starting point. Rather than criticising ourselves for lacking confidence, we can become curious about the patterns we've developed and ask whether they still serve us.

Confidence isn't about having it all figured out

One of the things I'm learning through my own journey is that listening to myself matters. My body has taught me the importance of slowing down, and I've had to learn that I cannot keep pushing simply because I think I should be able to do more.

I've also learnt that boundaries really do matter. Choosing yourself doesn't mean you are selfish or that you don't care about other people - it means recognising that your needs matter, too!

Confidence isn't about never feeling afraid, never questioning yourself or always knowing the answer. It's about learning to trust yourself even when you don't have all the answers.

Sometimes, that might mean taking a small step towards something you've been putting off. At other times, it might mean stepping back, giving yourself space to think or recognising that something isn't quite right for you. You don't have to become a different person - you can begin by getting to know yourself a little better, recognising your own strengths and giving yourself permission to make choices that reflect who you are and what matters to you.

Simple ways to reconnect with your inner power

What I want to make clear is that you don't need to make huge changes overnight. Small moments of awareness really can help you start to understand yourself and what you need.

1. Notice your self-talk. Pay attention to the way you speak to yourself when something goes wrong or when you're faced with a challenge. Ask yourself - would you speak to someone you love in the same way? If not, what might a kinder, more supportive response sound like?

2. Practise saying no. You don't need to justify every boundary or give a lengthy explanation for every decision. Start by noticing where you agree to things out of guilt, obligation or fear of disappointing someone.

3. Celebrate your own progress. We can be so focused on where we want to be that we overlook how far we've already come. Acknowledge the small steps, the difficult decisions you've made and the moments when you've shown courage.

4. Make space for yourself. Take a walk, spend time in nature, breathe consciously, try a little self-Reiki / mindfulness or sit quietly with a journal. Find something that helps you slow down and reconnect with what you're feeling.

5. Notice what you genuinely want. If you weren't worrying about other people's expectations for a moment, what would you choose? You don't have to act on every thought or desire, but you can give yourself permission to listen.

✨A little solar plexus journalling practice

If you'd like to explore your own relationship with confidence and self-worth, find a few quiet minutes and write whatever comes to mind in response to these questions.

➡️Where in my life do I feel confident and trust myself?

➡️Where do I tend to doubt myself or look for reassurance from others?

➡️What am I doing because I genuinely want to, and what am I doing because I feel I should?

➡️Where might I need a stronger boundary?

➡️What qualities do I appreciate about myself?

➡️What is one small step I could take this week to honour my own needs?

There are no right or wrong answers. You don't need to make sense of everything immediately, and you don't have to turn your reflections into a list of things to ‘fix’. Sometimes, by simply putting your thoughts onto paper it can help you to see things a little differently.

You could also bring a yellow crystal such as citrine into your practice if you enjoy working with crystals. Citrine is traditionally associated with confidence, abundance and personal power. You might hold it while journalling or simply use it as a reminder to reconnect with your own inner sunshine.

Exploring your energy with Donna Marie

This is one of the areas I explore through my energy alignment coaching work.

Through my own healing journey, I've become increasingly passionate about helping people understand themselves, recognise patterns that may be holding them back and reconnect with what feels right for them.

My one-to-one energy coaching sessions offer a supportive space to slow down, reflect and explore the areas of life where you may be craving greater clarity, confidence or balance.

I also offer a Solar Plexus-focused session centred on confidence, self-worth and personal power. Together, we can explore what these themes mean for you, what you might be ready to change and what could help you take your next steps.

My role isn't to tell you who to be or make decisions for you. It's to guide and support you as you explore your own experiences, reconnect with your inner knowing and discover what feels aligned for you. Depending on your needs, we can draw on energy coaching and suitable practices to support that exploration.

You don't need to know anything about chakras or energy work before you begin. You simply need to be open to exploring yourself and what might be possible.

If you'd like to find out more about the Solar Plexus coaching session or The Aligned Energy Reset, please get in touch. I'd be happy to have a conversation about what you're looking for and whether my approach feels right for you.

A final thought from me…

Remember, you don't need to wait until you feel completely confident before you begin your own healing work. You don't need everybody's approval, and you certainly don't have to prove your worth through constant doing.

Perhaps your next step is simply to pause, listen to yourself and acknowledge something you appreciate about the person you already are.

Let your own sunshine shine. 💛

Love & light,
Donna Marie 💚✨
