Returning to yourself✨
💛 Summer of Healing with Donna Marie
✨ A gentle journey back to yourself ✨
Summer Reflection | Week Six – Returning to yourself✨
Over the past few weeks, I've talked a lot about protecting our peace, finding balance and creating our own energy hygiene rituals. This week, I sat reflecting on what I was going to write about. With everything that's happened recently, I realised that perhaps all of those things have actually been leading me towards one simple truth.
Sometimes healing isn't about becoming someone new - ✨it's about returning to yourself.✨
This week has looked a little different for me. I've been looking after my lovely little niece in the mornings, which has been an absolute joy as I don’t get to see her that often.🥰 Like many of us know, when our routine changes it's easy for the things that normally help us feel grounded to slip away too. I have been super busy and haven't managed the long walks that usually help me reset, and at first I noticed myself thinking (or should I say overthinking), "I'm not doing enough - I am not getting out and exercising - I have too much to do…"
Then I caught myself, because returning to yourself isn't about doing everything perfectly. Particularly when you are living with a chronic condition where it is impossible to know how much you can do on any particular day.
Returning to yourself is about asking, "What do I need today?"💚
For me, that has meant taking a few quiet moments in the garden for myself, shoes off and dancing barefoot on the grass with my headphones on. Feeling the earth beneath my feet, taking a few deep breaths and reminding myself that even five or ten minutes of doing something that nourishes my soul is far better than doing nothing at all because I couldn't fit in the "perfect" routine.
I've learnt that healing doesn't have to look the same every day.
Some days it's a long walk by the sea, some days it's dancing in the garden and other days it's sitting quietly with a cup of herbal tea, holding a crystal and listening to the birds.
What matters isn't what we do. It's how those moments help us reconnect with ourselves and that, to me, is what energy hygiene is really about.
It is not another job on the to-do list or another thing we feel we have to get right. Simply choosing, each day, to do something that reminds us who we are beneath all the responsibilities, the appointments, the expectations and the noise.
This week also brought me one of those beautiful moments that quietly reminded me why I love what I do so much.
I offered a remote Reiki session to another Reiki practitioner, and afterwards she sent me the most heartfelt testimonial. She kindly left reviews on multiple platforms and I honestly found myself feeling so grateful for her beautiful words.
Not because of the praise itself, but because it reminded me that when we take care of our own energy, we're able to hold space for others in a much deeper way.
We often think we have to keep giving and giving until there's nothing left but I have come to learn that the opposite is true. The more we nurture ourselves and replenish our own energy, the more authentically we can support those around us.
As many of you know, the inspiration for this week's Energy Whisper came from 🐬Dolphin Spirit - This and that are true. I think there's such wisdom in that message about duality and there always being 2 sides of any story.
✔️Life can be busy and beautiful.
✔️We can feel tired and grateful.
✔️We can still be healing and be making a positive difference in someone else's life.
Both things can be true.
Perhaps that's what returning to yourself really means. Accepting where you are without judgement, honouring who you used to be whilst embracing who you're becoming. Trusting that you don't have to have everything figured out today - you simply need to keep coming home to yourself, one small moment at a time.
💛 Donna Marie's Summer Soul Practice
This week, I'd love you to ask yourself one simple question.
"When do I feel most like me?"
Don't think about who other people expect you to be. Think about the moments where you feel peaceful, joyful and completely yourself.
Perhaps it's:
💚Walking in nature
💚Reading a book
💚Swimming in the sea
💚Listening to music
💚Gardening
💚Painting or drawing
💚Laughing with a friend
💚Or maybe it's simply sitting quietly with a cup of tea or coffee.
Whatever your answer is, try to make space for it this week, because returning to yourself isn't selfish - it's absolutely essential.
✨ Donna Marie's Energy Hygiene Tip of the Week
Don't wait until you're exhausted to reconnect with yourself.
Even five mindful minutes can completely change the direction of your day.
Small moments, repeated often, create lasting change.
As we continue our Summer of Healing together, I hope you're beginning to realise that healing isn't about becoming someone else. It's about gently peeling back the layers, letting go of what no longer serves you and remembering the person you were always meant to be.
And perhaps that's the greatest gift we can give ourselves - to come home to ourselves.
Love and light,
Donna Marie 💚✨
