Navigating Shadow Work and Energy Healing Under the Full Moon 🌕

This week has been one of those weeks where emotions feel bigger than life itself. I’ve been emotional, overwhelmed, and, to be honest, I couldn’t pinpoint a particular single reason why. Perhaps it’s the eclipse season we are in contributing to how I am feeling — with its powerful energy shifts, many of us experience what some call an “eclipse hangover,” where the shifting energies can bring intense, deep feelings to the surface unexpectedly and many people feel exhausted and in need of rest and reset throughout this period.

As someone who guides others in Reiki, crystal energy, and transformational energy coaching, I want my clients to know something very important: I am human, just as you are. Even practitioners need to release, reflect, and tend to our own energy. I think I have said this before but healing is not linear, it is a spiral and we are on a never ending journey of growth. This week, I’ve leaned deeply into my own practices — dancing, walking, meditating with my crystals, journaling each morning, doing my written affirmations, and of course, Reiki — to gently guide myself through the intensity.

Tonight, under the beautiful full moon, I will write down what no longer serves me and burn it as a symbolic act of release. It’s a monthly ritual that I love to do which supports me energetically, emotionally, and spiritually, and it reminds me — and you — that we can choose to let go and make space for transformation.

 What is Shadow Work?

Shadow work is the practice of consciously exploring the parts of ourselves we often hide, resist, or judge — those aspects that we might call our “shadow.” We often deem them negative or undesirable so we try our best to suppress. By embracing and acknowledging these hidden aspects of ourselves, it’s not about negativity or self-criticism; it’s about awareness, self-acceptance, love, healing, and integration.

When we engage with our shadow, we begin to see the triggers, patterns, fears, and beliefs that influence our choices, relationships, and experiences. This work allows us to reclaim power over our lives, release old stories and limiting beliefs, and step into a more authentic version of ourselves.

Shadow work can feel intense and often uncomfortable at times, especially during full moons or eclipse seasons, but it’s also profoundly transformative. Even small, daily practices — like journaling your feelings, acknowledging your emotions, or gently reflecting on your reactions — are powerful steps toward self-awareness and healing.

How Reiki and Energy Coaching Support Shadow Work

Energy healing and coaching are incredibly supportive tools during shadow work.

Reiki works with your body’s energy field to release stuck, heavy, or stagnant energy. It helps calm the nervous system, balances your energetic centres, and allows deep emotional release to happen safely and gently. Especially during times of heightened emotions, Reiki is a gentle, nurturing energy that helps activate your own innate healing abilities.

Transformational energy coaching helps you understand your patterns, identify where you may be unconsciously holding yourself back, and take inspired action. It empowers you to move forward with clarity, purpose, and self-compassion.

In my own practice, I combine these modalities with movement, breathwork, crystals, journaling, and affirmations — a holistic approach to help myself and my clients release, restore, and reconnect with their true authentic power.

Full Moon Shadow Work Ritual

Tonight, I will be doing a simple yet powerful ritual:

  1. Write it out: I’ll write down anything that no longer serves me — beliefs, emotions, fears, or old stories.

  2. Release energetically: Safely burn the paper under the full moon as a symbolic act of letting go.

  3. Reflect and invite: I will set my intentions for what I wish to invite in — peace, clarity, growth, and abundance.

  4. Gratitude: Close the ritual by giving thanks to the Universe, my guides, and my own higher self đź’ś

This can be adapted for your own practice. Even writing a single line of release or intention can shift your energy and align you with your next steps.

 Closing Reflection

The full moon is a time of illumination, release, and renewal. Shadow work reminds us that even in our most human moments, we have the tools and guidance to move through our emotions with compassion and grace. Reiki, energy coaching, and self-reflective practices offer profound support as we navigate these transformative waves.

You are not alone in feeling, releasing, and growing. Embrace the journey, honour your emotions, and allow yourself the space to evolve. Tonight, I will burn what no longer serves me, and tomorrow, I will step forward lighter, clearer, and more aligned with my soul aligned truth.

Affirmations to carry with you:

đź’š I release what no longer serves my heart.

đź’š I forgive myself and embrace my growth.

đź’šI step forward with clarity, courage, and love.

Thank you to each and every one of you that read my blogs, I honestly hope that they help and inspire you to do the work on your own energy so that you too can live as your most authentic self.

Love and Light,

Donna Marie x
