Understanding Your Energy: How Chakras Affect Your Wellbeing
This week, I wanted to bring things back to basics. Something I speak about often within my work, but haven’t really explained in detail here…
Your energy.
Or should I say, more specifically, your ✨chakras.✨
Chakras are energy centres within the body that play a key role in your emotional, physical and spiritual wellbeing.
When they are balanced and flowing, you tend to feel:
✔️Calm.
✔️Grounded.
✔️Clear.
✔️Aligned.
But when they become blocked or out of balance, it can show up in ways you might not always connect to your energy.
What Are Chakras?
There are seven main chakras that run from the base of your spine to the crown of your head.
Each one is associated with:
a different area of the body
a different emotional theme
and a different energy frequency (often linked to colour)
How Imbalance Can Show Up
When your energy is out of alignment, it doesn’t just stay in your energy field – it can show up in your day-to-day life.
For example:
🔴 Root Chakra (red) – safety & stability
You may feel anxious, unsettled or constantly on edge
🟠 Sacral Chakra (orange) – emotions & creativity
You may feel disconnected, lacking joy or emotionally blocked
🟡 Solar Plexus (yellow) – confidence & self-worth
Self-doubt, people pleasing or feeling “not good enough”
💚 Heart Chakra (green) – love & compassion
Difficulty giving or receiving love, holding onto hurt
🩵Throat Chakra (blue) – communication
Struggling to express yourself or speak your truth
🔵Third Eye (indigo) – intuition
Feeling disconnected from your inner guidance and wisdom
⚪ Crown Chakra (violet/white) – connection
Feeling lost, disconnected or without purpose
Why This Matters
So many of the things we experience like stress, overwhelm, emotional exhaustion are not just “in the mind” - they are energetic.
And when your energy is out of balance for a long period of time, your body begins to feel it too (ever heard of “Your body keeps the score”? I would highly recommend this book!)
This is why simply “thinking differently” doesn’t always create lasting change.
The energy needs to be supported as well.
Bringing Your Energy Back Into Balance
This doesn’t have to be complicated.
Small, intentional practices can begin to support your energy:
🤍Spending time in nature
🤍Breathwork and slowing down
🤍Journaling your thoughts and emotions
🤍Working with crystals
🤍Energy healing such as Reiki
Working intuitively as a Reiki practitioner and Crystal Energy Guide, this is something I support clients with on a regular basis - helping to gently bring the body and energy back into alignment.
A Gentle Reflection
If you’ve been feeling overwhelmed, disconnected or not quite yourself lately…
It may not be that something is “wrong”.
Your energy may simply be asking for support.
And when you begin to listen to that, everything can start to shift.
